The Government of South Korea officially conceded that some of the bodies from the sunken ferry, Sewol, were misidentified and stated that changes would be implemented to avoid the same things happening in future.
There were several news reports this week stating that some of the bodies recovered from the place of the tragedy were brought to wrong families and the fact was sometimes established only at the funeral homes.

From now, the government announced that the bodies will be transferred to families only after a DNA, fingerprint or dental records match. The permanent transfer will be performed only after the tests would be run.
There have been 183 bodies recovered, with 119 yet to found in some parts of the sunken vessel.
The tragedy happened on April 16th, when the ferry turned over and sank on its way from Incheon to a tourist spot – Jeju island.
Over 80% of passengers were students of local high school, Ansan, south of Seoul.
The captain and 10 crew members have been arrested on charge of negligence and abandoning passengers in need. According to the prosecutor of the investigation team there were several reasons for the tragedy: improper cargo storage, excessive veering, tides, ship modifications.
