Nollywood Actress, Stella Damasus Intensifies Fight Against Sexual Abuse

Top Nollywood actress, Stella Damasus-Aboderin on Monday urged Nigerian women to promptly report cases of sexual molestation and abuse to the relevant agencies.
Damasus spoke at programme organised by her organisation, ADIVA, weekend, to promote the rights of women and girls.
She expressed concern that many unreported cases of sexual violence had left a lot of women psychologically traumatised.

She challenged mothers to develop a bond with their children especially females, so that they could freely report cases of abuse or molestation by the opposite sex.
“Many parents have bottled up cases of rape that their daughters have gone through due to the fear of being stigmatised by the society“
“Cases like this, should be reported, so that the offenders can be brought to book and debarred him from continuing such acts against other people.
In a separate interview, Dorathy Njemanze, the founder of the Dorothy Njemanze Foundation, urged mothers to pay attention to the upbringing of their children.
“If you are a mother, and your daughter cannot confide in you, then you are a failure,” Njemanze said.
She advised women to take advantage of several government and NGO platforms established to handle cases of abuse against women. (NAN)
