Insecurity, Threat To NYSC Scheme –DG

The Director General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Nnamdi Okorie-Affia, yesterday said that the security challenges facing the nation is an issue that calls for concerted efforts by all stakeholders as it is negatively affecting the scheme.
The NYSC DG, who made the statement at the 2012 ‘Batch C’ NYSC pre-orientation course in Minna, Niger State, said he was optimistic that security agencies would fashion out practical strategies that would secure corps members.

He appealed to all stakeholders to collaborate with the NYSC to ensure the security of lives and property of corps members, as according to him, it is only when they are adequately protected that they can contribute maximally to the development of the country.
He expressed appreciation to the state government for ensuring that all corps members posted to the state are comfortable. In his remarks, Governor Babangida Aliyu said efforts must be made towards peace building and economic prosperity at individual and organizational level to guarantee a safe and secured Nigeria.
The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Ahmed Musa Ibeto, said all hands must be on deck to fight the insecurity situation.
